Advertise! Why should you advertise? Well, read on... What David Ogilvy found. Many years ago, David Ogilvy, the renown ad man, did a study of the recession of the early 70s. Specifically, he compared companies who continued to advertise during the recession to companies that seriously cut back on their advertising. What he found was that companies that continued to advertise not only stayed ahead of their competition during the recession, but also pulled out of the recession faster and stayed ahead of their non-advertising competitors afterwards. Not surprising really. No convinced? Well read on... The Story of Moxie ColaBack in the 20s, the great jazz age after the first great war, there were a lot of colas around the US, the main three were Moxie Cola, Coke and Pepsi. Moxie was actually outselling the other two at the time. Then came the Great Depression and cola sales started to slip along with everything else. It is more of a luxury item, I guess, not a necessity. Moxie, in spite of their name, decided to cut back on their advertising to wait it out. Coke did not. Their ads of the time depicted happy carefree people and comfortable homes. I think you all know the result. Coke is now found all over the known world and then some. They continue to advertise heavily even though, I am sure, every human being on the planet knows what Coke is. And Moxie, well, you can still find Moxie Cola in some parts of New England, if you search for it. So, what are you waiting for? To place an ad, use the convenient online order form. |

Advertise in KnitNet!Why? Well, KnitNet was the first online knitting magazine. We started in October, 1998, and have been growing and expanded ever since, attracting a loyal and dedicated following. But that is not a good enough reason. There's more. KnitNet is one of the best places on to advertise your knitting-related business. We were the first knitting magazine on the 'Net and have published continuously for more than 10 years. We have more than 50,000 loyal readers. They are the dedicated hard-core knitters, not the ones who are following trends. They patronize our advertisers. Don't miss the opporunity! Here are some facts:
We recently received this email from a reader - "I really liked the new advertiser "Earth Faire". I saw the beaded bracelet and immediately ordered a kit. If mine looks reasonably as well as the photo, I see half my Christmas shopping done already! I have been with you from the beginning and will be with you until the end. I love the Aran and Fair Isle sweaters the best. Keep up the good work." Some advertisers have found KnitNet advertising so effective they have stopped advertising in print magazines. New opportunity! We started the weekly KnitNet Tips, Tricks and Trade Secrets newsletter in February, 2006. It was an immediate hit!
It is a great vehicle for online stores. Buyers will click through and buy immediately. Several advertisers have had immediate sales that more than covered the cost of the ad. Make a good offer and people will respond. ![]() To place an ad, use the convenient online order form, contact by email: sales@knitnet.com , or call 416.656.4893. |
