MATERIALS AND TOOLS
- Country Style DK (45 % acrylic, 40 % nylon and 15 % wool) 100g / 3 1/2 oz balls (each approx 318 m/ 109yds)
2 balls Magenta (#501)
- One pair (or circular) 3.00mm needles
- One pair (or circular) 3.50mm needles OR whichever needles your require to produce the gauge given below
GAUGE
24 sts and 32 rows = 10cm / 4ins over stitch pattern, using larger needles.
Notes
1. One st at each side edge of the work (selvedge sts) should be taken into the
seam allowance. These selvedge sts should always be worked in St st (RS k
and WS p) despite what the stitch pattern requires. Do not work incs in these sts;
for neater seaming, work incs in 2nd or 3rd st from the edge.
2. The reverse side of these legwarmers is quite wonderful too. If leaving the
reverse side out, tails may be drawn through to inside with crochet hook or
left hanging as a fringe.
STITCH PATTERN (worked over a multiple of 4 + 3 sts and 4 rows)
Row 1: *K3, p1, rep from * to 3 sts rem, k3.
Row 2: *P3, k1, rep from * to 3 sts rem, p3.
Row 3: *K1, [k1 into st 2 rows below next st on LHN and draw through loop, knit next st on LHN, then pass drawn loop over st just made = "dip 1" made], k1, p1, rep from * to 3 sts rem, k1, dip 1, k1.
Row 4: *P3, k1, rep from * to 3 sts rem, p3.
Rep these 4 patt rows
METHOD
LEGWARMER (make 2)
With smaller needles, cast on 43 (51, 63, 71, 83) sts. Work k1,p1 rib for 18 (18, 24, 24, 24) rows, end with WS row. Change to larger needles.
Beg working stitch patt with row 1. Rep 4 rows of st patt, inc 1 st at beg and end of each WS row to 65 (77, 89, 101, 113)sts.
Cont working even in st patt to 37 (45, 52, 52, 52)cm / 14 ½ (17½, 20½, 20½, 20½)ins from beg or to desired length, end with row 2 of st patt.
Change to smaller needles. Work in k1p1 rib for 6 (6, 10, 10, 10) rows. Bind off all sts loosely.
FINISHING
