Topsy Farms

Peaceful Island pastures

Topsy Farm is located on Amherst Island, in Lake Ontario.

Topsy Farms wool comes from a well-cared for flock of over 1300 breeding sheep that are protected from predators by large white guardian dogs. Developed through careful breeding, the flock grazes on tree-shaded pastures of Amherst Island at the eastern end of Lake Ontario.

Topsy is a cooperative family farm. Its people who work and live here love and respect the environment they live in. The sheep are raised as naturally as possible. No growth hormones are used. No pesticides are broadcast on the pastures.

Durable Yarns

Topsy Farms yarns come in subtle natural shades of white, light or dark grey, and brown. Yarn is also available in blended colours.

Generous in bulk, and firm in texture, they are specially selected and prepared with the needs of knitters in mind. They are unmatched for durability and warmth when knitted into garments for people who love the feel of pure wool. The natural white is ideal for home dyeing.

No other fibre provides all the qualities of wool - enduring warmth even when wet, breathable, stretch resistant, and washable. Wool is also a renewable resource.

Topsy Farms yarns are processed from selected fleeces that have been washed in gentle soaps to preserve the wool’s natural softness.
